As the countdown to the Shehu Dikko Novelty Match draws closer, organisers of the event say more former Nigerian internationals have confirmed their participation in the football match.

The match billed for the 4th of December 2024 at the Moshood Abiola, Stadium, Abuja is in honour of Mallam Shehu Dikko for his appointment as Chairman of the National Sports Commission, NSC.

According to the Organisers, former African footballer of the year and the man popularly known as the prince of Monaco, Victor Ikpeba is one of the ex-internationals who will feature in the match.

Other former Super Eagles players expected for the match include Daniel Amokachi, Samson Siasia, Mutiu Adepoju, and Garba Lawal.

Ikpeba said it is a big privilege to be part of such an event in honour of the positive revolution in Nigerian sports, having technocrats like Shehu Dikko as Chairman of National National Sport and Bukola Olopade as the Director General.

He said: “Both Shehu Dikko and Bukola Olopade are astute Sports administrators who have proven records over the years and Mr President got the balance right with their appointments.”

The SDNM Organisers stressed that the event is not just a football match but an opportunity to drum more private-driven support for the National Sports Commission to actualise the mandate of revamping Nigerian Sports.
