Man United agree £21.6m deal with Real Betis for Antony

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Real Betis for the transfer of Brazilian winger Antony in a deal worth £21.6 million.
The agreement, concluded on transfer deadline day, includes a guaranteed payment of £19.6 million with a further £2 million in performance-related bonuses.

In addition, United have secured a 50 per cent sell-on clause on any profit from Antony’s future transfer.

Antony, 25, joined United from Ajax in 2022 for £86 million but struggled to replicate the form that earned him the move. He made 96 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals.
Negotiations with Betis had stalled earlier in the week over wage and severance terms. United declined to pay a termination fee to the player, and Betis pushed for reduced overall costs before the deal was revived. Antony is expected to undergo his medical in Sevilla within 24 hours before signing a permanent contract.

The winger spent last season on loan at Betis, where he featured prominently, and had made clear his preference to return to the Spanish club.

Antony’s exit is the second major sale of United’s summer window following Alejandro Garnacho’s £40 million move to Chelsea. An official announcement from both clubs is expected after the player completes his medical.
