Osimhen bags brace as Galatasaray edge rivals to 26th Super Lig title

Victor Osimhen celebrates after scoring for Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen scored twice as Galatasaray clinched their fourth consecutive Turkish league title with a thrilling 4-2 comeback victory over Antalyaspor on Saturday.

The Nigerian striker netted the equaliser before scoring the decisive goal two minutes from time to seal the championship for the Lions.

Mario Lemina had sparked Galatasaray’s comeback, while Kaan Ayhan added a late fourth goal to cap off the celebrations in stoppage time.

The triumph secured Galatasaray’s 26th Turkish Super Lig title, as they finished ahead of fierce rivals Fenerbahçe, who are set to end the campaign in second place.

The title win also guarantees Galatasaray automatic qualification for the group stage of next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Osimhen calmly converted from the penalty spot to make it 2-2, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way, before reacting quickest to a spilled long-range effort to flick home the winner and send the home fans into celebration.

The 25-year-old has now scored 15 goals in 21 league appearances this season.

The title marks Osimhen’s second league triumph with Galatasaray since joining the club on an initial loan move last season.

He has now won three league titles in his career, having previously lifted the Serie A title with Napoli during the 2023/24 season.

Remarkably, Osimhen has won a league title in each of the last three seasons.
