The quarterfinals of the seventh Prince GAS Cup will begin today at the Igando Centre, as Wilson FC takes on Divine Football Club at 2.00 pm today for a place in the semi final.

In the second match, ROLAG will lock horns with OJ New Star slated for 3.45 p.m. to determine, which team moves to the semi-finals.

Tomorrow, Surulere W will take on P/SPORTS at 3.00 p.m., while the winner between M. Success and FC Phoenix will battle Peace FC on Thursday in the last quarterfinal game also at the Igando. The final is slated for December 27.

In the open category, Olawale Hassan of Wilson FC with five goals lead the chart, while Abdullahi Camara of Bright Star of Surulere, Mathew Oyekan of Shining Star, and Olayinka Sanusi of Sharp Strikers FC are all on six goals, leading the goalscorers’ chat in the under 15 categories.

Sharp Strikers are also the first team to qualify for semi-finalists in under-15 category after beating Royal Warriors FC 6-5 on penalties after goalless. Sharp Strikers’ goalkeeper, Salako Abu Sharp Striker, who saved four penalty kicks in the game, was adjudged man-of-the-match.

Competition organiser, Prince Gbadamosi Adebola Sulaimon, who hailed the teams for their feats, assured them that those who did well would be rewarded.

He thanked Germany-based Yomi Omo Ologo for donating jerseys for the under 15 categories, just as he commended the Managing Director of Elcrystar Star Group, Dr. Oyeleye Oluwasegun, who promised a scholarship for the best Under 15 player, and both Elder David Akere and Jimoh Ajao for supporting the event.

“I am excited by what I have seen so far. The teams are coordinated and the players have all given their best. Hopefully, we can discover the future Super Eagles stars at this competition,” he stated.
