Deadline Day Live: Osimhen’s Al Ahli deal ‘collapses’?
There is a feeling amongst Chelsea that a move for Victor Osimhen is still possible despite the forward striking an agreement in principle with Al Ahli.
Osimhen has not given the green light to the Saudi move and wants to see if Chelsea can make an offer that would suit both himself and Napoli.
Chelsea can’t get near the €40m (£33.6m) net per year salary Al Ahli have offered Osimhen, but the Blues are working on an incentivised deal knowing the preference of the player is to stay in one of European football’s top 5 Leagues – if the deal is right.
While Osimhen weighs up potential options, Al Ahli have agreed a deal with Brentford for Ivan Toney.
As talks continue, Sky Sports News understands Osimhen’s contract offer from Al Ahli is being reviewed by lawyers.
“Everybody wants to know where Victor Osimhen will end up. It’s difficult to say at the moment, but what we know is that Chelsea have a chance to sign him.
“Osimhen’s proposed move to Al-Ahli might have collapsed, and Chelsea are pushing to sign the Napoli striker.
“It all depends what Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis does in the next few minutes.
“We know Osimhen agreed personal terms with Al-Ahli on Thursday but there is still no agreement between the clubs – Napoli want more than what Al-Ahli are offering, and that is why Chelsea are keeping their hopes high.” says Skysports reporter
