From now every game is a cup final, says Ordega
Super Falcons’ star, Francisca Ordega has assured Nigerians that her team will treat all their remaining matches at the on-going African Women Nations Cup in Ghana like a cup final, promising that the shock 0-1 loss to South Africa will not happen again.
Ordega, who scored one of the goals as Nigeria defeated Zambia 4-0 in Cape Coast on Wednesday, said the players are determined to defend their title, adding that with the level of support from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) they will achieve the target.
Many Nigerians wrote off the Falcons after their opening day loss to South Africa and Ordega is not faulting the fans for that.
Rather, she pleads for support in their endeavor to win their ninth title, reminding her compatriots that “every other country here wants to beat us. But we are determined to show that we are still the best in Africa.”
The 25-year-old forward, who did enough on Wednesday to pick the woman of the match award, assured Nigerians more of such efforts.
She disclosed that the team had resolved to play as one when they battle with Equatorial Guinea in their last group match, which will push them to the semifinals.
