Super Eagles’ Manager, Gernot Rohr, says he has started the search for new players, who will be given opportunity to stake their claims for inclusion in the national team when Nigeria play Egypt in an international friendly game early next year.

Rohr, who spoke through Super Eagles’ Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye, yesterday said that despite the victories over Algeria and Zambia, which have given Nigeria the leadership in Africa’s Group B of the 2018 World Cup qualifying series, he would not rest on his oars in the task to ensure Nigeria got a formidable squad capable of not only qualifying the country for the Copa du Mundo, but also win laurels in future engagements.

The German-born tactician, who said he has been assessing the performance of some of the overseas-based players he intends to invite for the friendly, revealed that the tune up matches lined up for the Eagles next year would help the coaches to correct some anomalies discovered in the team.

The Eagles’ coach dismissed the reports making the rounds that he has invited new players to the Eagles squad, saying such information would be announced through the right channel.

Quoting Rohr, Ibitoye said, “Apart from moving around various clubs in Europe in search for more players to strengthen the Eagles, we would also watch some players on television. Building a solid Eagles is a continuous process. The domestic players would also have their chance when the league kicks off. There is no permanent shirt in Super Eagles.’’

Ugo Ukah is a solid defender in the mould of Uche Okechukwu and he is available for SE. Based in Europe,Ugo will be a quality solution to the defensive lapses of the SE. Watch him play on YouTube. Rohr should check him out and give him a chance to contribute.

Wondering if he is not too old for the current setup. I guess he has had an opportunity in past but could not make a strong impression. Anyway, if he is the right man, he should get a look in.
