An organisation, DSG Sport Management, is partnering with Atikulate Nigeria Network in a nationwide campaign to develop football through the seven-a-side model.

One such competition was held in Abuja at the weekend, which, according to the chief organiser and sports director for the network, Dennis Onwuka, produced fresh stars for the country.

Director General of the network, Eichie Ehiagwina Mayor, said youth involvement in the campaign is not just with sports, but also in all areas of life, especially governance.

He said the network plans a seven-a-side tournament that would feature teams from all the wards in the geopolitical zones, adding that each ward of the 774 local councils of the 36 states and the FCT would register four teams that would compete for the prize monies.

According to Mayor, registration is free for all the teams and the winning team will get N5, 000,000.

The test event in Abuja had over 3, 000 spectators and 900 new members were welcomed into the network.

At the end of the competition, medals were presented to winners, while a raffle draw was held and winners went home with gifts.
