The Ghanaian delegation, made up of members of the famous Achimota Club 1924 of Accra, will contest against the host club in Abuja over two days, with double and single matches being lined up on October 2.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the tournament in Abuja, the chairman of the Organising Committee and Vice Captain of the club, Oseni Ahmed said the main tournament would hold on Monday, October 2, 2017, noting that at least 250 golfers will participate at the tournament.

“We are inviting players from Ghana and they should be arriving on Friday,” he said. “We will have a double match play on Saturday and single match play on Sunday ahead of the main tournament on Monday.”

Also speaking, the IBB Golf Club’s Secretary of Competitions, Austine Nwachukwu said, “we will play over 18 holes of stroke play that has to do with individual handicaps.”

He revealed that categories for men will be 1-11, 12-19 and 20-28, while the ladies will have 1-18 and 19- 38 divisions, adding that prizes will be won in all categories.

On his part, the Captain of IBB Golf Club, Sunday Ameh said the event is a major item in the Club’s calendar, adding, “we are proud to be Nigerians and in our own little way as a club, we are putting the tournament together to celebrate our country.”

He said all players would wear green and white kits as a show of patriotism to Nigeria.
