Former Flying Eagles’ Coach, John Obuh, has predicted that Nasarawa United and FC IfeanyiUbah, who will play in this year’s Federation Cup final, will lead the new era in Nigerian club football.

Nassarawa United and FC IfeanyiUbah will meet in the Federation Cup final at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, on November 6.

Obuh noted that for over a long period of time, Nigeria have been featuring some known clubs in major continental championships, positing that the dominance of the known faces had given outsiders the impression that there were no strong challengers to the dominant sides.

He argued that the performance of Nassarawa United and FC IfeanyiUbah has shown other teams that the can challenge for honours if they worked hard, saying the invincibility surrounding some teams were beginning to fade.

On the likely winner of the Federation Cup, Obuh said Nassarawa United, who have the backing of their state government in terms of funds and other logistics, have the edge over the Anambra Warriors sponsored by an individual.

He, however, predicted that the game would be interesting, as both teams would fight hard to play in the CAF Confederation Cup, which is a big step in the development of either of the teams.

Obuh called on football loving Nigerians to come out en masse to support the teams.
