IGC holds 70th birthday kitty for Tunde Afolabi


Golfers and members of the executive committee of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) have finalized plans to celebrate one of the trustees of the club, Parakoyi Tunde Afolabi, who will clock 70 years this weekend with a golf tournament.

About 150 golfers across notable golf clubs in Nigeria, according to the Captain of IGC, Ola Ibironke, are expected to participate in the celebration kitty specially organised to honur the philanthropist, who will also be installed as the Parakoyi of Ibadanland by Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, the Olubadan of Ibadanland.     

“Chief Tunde Afolabi, the CEO of Amni International, has immensely contributed to the development of golf in Nigeria and particularly the growth of Ibadan Golf Club; and it is in our tradition here to identify and celebrate our members, hence, this is a good way to show our appreciation to him for his good deeds.

“This one day golf event is a two-in-one celebration, as this IGC’s trustee will be turning 70 on this Saturday, he will also be honoured by the Olubadan of Ibadan with a respected chieftaincy title in the land,” Ibironke, popularly known as Dudu Heritage, noted.
