It’s Enyimba versus Libya’s Al Ittihad as Rivers United draw Egypt’s Al Masry

Enyimba of Aba will meet old foes, Al Ittihad of Libya, in the last qualifying round of the CAF Confederation Cup, while Rivers United are paired with Egypt’s Al Masry.

When Enyimba last met Al Ittihad in 2011, the Peoples Elephant triumphed over two legs, winning the first game 1-0 in Aba and drawing away in Libya.

The Libyans side this term stand between Enyimba and the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Nigeria’s other entry in the competition, Rivers United, who dropped from the more prestigious CAF Champions League, will play against Al Masry, a club that once housed some Nigerian players, including Ezekiel Bassey, Emeka Eze and Jude Aneke.

The last 32 matches will feature 16 teams that qualified from the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round against the losing 16 teams from the Champions League second preliminary round.

The draws in Egypt, yesterday, conducted by Head of CAF Competitions, Khaled Nassar, who was assisted by Egypt and Zamalek legend Ismail Youssef, also unveiled days the home and away games will hold.

The play-off round first-leg matches are scheduled to hold on November 28, while the second-leg games will be played on December 5.
