Kano Pillars, Safety Babes are winners of Prudent Energy Handball tourney

Kano Pillars and Safety Babes yesterday emerged winners of the male and female categories respectively at this year’s Prudent Energy Handball Premier League, held at the M.K.O. Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Kano Pillars and Safety Babes yesterday emerged winners of the male and female categories respectively at this year’s Prudent Energy Handball Premier League, held at the M.K.O. Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Kano Pillars whipped Rima Strikers 29 – 19 in the final day 14 fixtures of the male’s category to dethrone Safety Shooters as the champions of this year’s edition.

In the other games played, Kada Stars lost 27 – 30 to Confluence Stars, while Lagos Seasiders humbled Plateau Vipers 26 – 25, as the defending champion, Safety Shooters thumped former champion, Niger United 26 -19.

In the female category, Safety Babes emerged winners, as they dethroned the former champions, the Adorable Angels of Ilorin. Edo Dynamos shocked the Adorable Angels 23 – 21 in the other game, while the Bayelsa Queens lost 23 – 24 to Plateau Peacocks.

Plateau Peacocks won the fair play trophy in the female category, while Niger United secured the male cadre award.

The most valuable player award went to Adorable Angels’ Muhinat Yusuf in the female class, while Confluence Stars’ John Michael emerged winner in the male category.

Defenders Babes’ Okoro Adaobi, who scored 88 goals, won the highest goal scorer award in the female class, while Blessing Lucky of Plateau Vipers with 73 goals secured the award in the male cadre.
