Lead City University (LCU), Ibadan, has reaffirmed its status as a powerhouse in university sports, delivering an exceptional performance at the just-concluded 2025 Nigerian Private University Games Association (NPUGA) tournament. Hosted at Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, this year’s edition saw 25 universities competing across various sporting disciplines.
The LCU Gladiators rose to the occasion, clinching second place overall with an impressive haul of 25 medals, topped by victory in the men’s football event for the fourth consecutive time.
The university’s athletes also made their mark in track and field, particularly in the 800-metre race, as well as in tennis, showcasing their versatility and competitive edge across multiple events.
Speaking on the school’s feat, Deputy Registrar, Corporate Communications and Students Services, Dr Ayobami Owolabi, said: “This outstanding performance reflects the strength, discipline, and unity of our student-athletes.
“Their success is not just a win for sports, but a triumph of resilience, preparation, and the unwavering support of the university community.”
