Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 in an international friendly match played at the Gtech Community Stadium on Wednesday night.
The first goal came in the 14th minute when Cyriel Dessers controlled a cross and scored from inside the box, giving Nigeria an early lead. Five minutes later, a free kick delivery caused confusion in the Ghana defense, leading to an own goal by Razak Simpson, which doubled Nigeria’s advantage.
Ghana responded in the 70th minute through Brandon Thomas-Asante, who finished low into the net following a cross from the left side.
The match grew more competitive after Ghana’s goal, with both teams creating chances. Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Nwabali, made key saves to maintain the lead, including a stop on a close-range effort by Abu Francis late in the game.
Substitutions were made by both sides in the second half as each coach sought to adjust their lineups. Nigeria introduced Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, and Ahmed Musa to add fresh energy, while Ghana made changes to respond to the scoreline. The game featured a number of fouls and yellow cards as the teams contested possession aggressively.
Despite Ghana’s efforts to equalize in the closing stages, Nigeria held on to the lead and secured the victory.
