Nwakali joins Portuguese club GD Chaves on two-year deal

Super Eagles midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has joined Portuguese club GD Chaves on a two-year deal.

Super Eagles midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has joined Portuguese club GD Chaves on a two-year deal.

The Primeira Liga club announced Nwakali’s signing on Friday.

The 25-year-old joined GD Chaves from Spanish lower division side SD Ponferradina.

Nwakali spent just one season at SD Ponferradina after joining them on 21 July 2022,

Nwakali started his career at the Diamond Football Academy and after his fine performances at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, in which he won the Golden Ball Award, he signed with Arsenal.

He was a member of the Super Eagles squad that featured at the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
