…Over 180 players billed for IGC captain’s game
About 180 golfers are expected to feature in the Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) Captain’s Inaugural tournament, planned to usher in Tunji Oladosu, as the new captain of the club. The tournament will run from June 24 to 25, 2022.
The chairman of the inaugural committee, Idowu Salami, while unveiling the event in Ibadan, yesterday, said the tournament would see a high level of interactions and networking between creme de la creme of the society that are expected at the event.
He said: “The inaugural tournament is always organised to celebrate and usher in the captain of the Ibadan Golf Club. When a new captain comes on board, it is in our tradition to celebrate him. And golfers all over the country are expected to grace the occasion.
“The arrival, registration, cocktail is billed for June 24, while the tournament will snowball into closing ceremony and presentation of prizes on Saturday.
“The tournament will be an epoch-making event and players from Ikeja Golf Club, Ikoyi Golf Club, IBB Golf Club, Ibom Golf Club, Ekiti Club and host of others are expected to participate in it.”
Salami also revealed that the new Captain of the Ibadan golf club, Oladosu, was nominated to complete the tenure of the late captain, Ola Ibironke, popularly known as ‘Dudu Heritage,’ who suddenly passed away before the completion of his tenure.
He stated that the new financial year for 2022/2023 tenure begins on April 1, 2022 and is expected to end on March 31, 2023.
Also speaking on the event, Wale Osungbohun, the second vice captain of the club, said the tournament will be full of fanfare, stating that the Ibadan Golf Club is known as one of the leading golf clubs in Nigeria. Otunba Abimbola Davis is another member of the planning committee.
