Oyo sports journalists honour police commissioner, others

Oyo State sports journalists have honoured some of their patrons for their contributions to the sector’s development in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

Oyo State sports journalists have honoured some of their patrons for their contributions to the sector’s development in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

The event, held at last weekend at the Joybam Hotel and Event Centre Ibadan swimming pool, had top sports personalities in attendance, including Ogun State Football Association Chairman, Ganiyu Majekodunmi, the former chairman of 3SC board, Elder Bode Oyewole, the publisher of Parrotxtra magazine and 3SC ambassador, Mr. Yinka Agboola.

Speaking at the event, leader of Oyo sports journalists, Comrade Niyi Alebiosu thanked members of sport’s fraternity and his members for identifying with the association during its trying period.

At the event, the Commissioner of Police Oyo State Command, CP Abiodun Odude was honoured for his aiding infrastructural development within the force and also supporting his command’s teams to success in recent competitions.

Also honoured were the Chairman of Oyo State Amateur Boxing Association (OSABA), Baron Akintunde Opaleye and the vice president of Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF), Dr. Musa Oshodi, as well as the CEO of TKO Sports, Tokunbo Ladipo, who was singled out for his efforts in developing good data platform for schools pupils in Oyo State.
 
The Rashidi Yekini Foundation and Owu Sports Wear were also recognized for their support to the media, while the CEO of Kayrom Lee Gym and Fitness Center, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde was named as the Matron of the Oyo
sports journalism.

Chairman of the 2018 Oyo Sports Journalists’ Week Committee,Olanrewaju Agiri explained that the honorees were selected in acknowledgement of their contributions to the development of sports in the state and country at large as well as the uplift of the association over the years.
