Paris 2024: Four Super Falcons stars doubtful for Qualifiers Against Ethiopia

The quartet of Gift Monday, Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Uchiebe and Regina Otu are doubtful for the second round Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers between Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Ethiopia.

The four players are likely not to be available for the two-legged fixtures against Ethiopia due to visa hitches and injuries.

All home-based players and officials are expected to departed Nigeria on Sunday for Addis Ababa venue for the first leg of the qualifiers scheduled for Wednesday 25 October.

The home-based players will be joined by the foreign-based players for the away tie.

Meanwhile, former Falconets star and current Aribo Queens midfielder Esther Onyenezide has been invited for the qualifiers against Ethiopia.

The second leg between the Super Falcons and Ethiopia comes up on Tuesday, 31 October.

World football governing body FIFA awarded CAF two slots for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in France.

The last time the Falcons featured at the Olympic Games was at Beijing 2008 in China.

At the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the Falcons reached the round of 16 before losing on penalty shootout to England.
