Philanthropist moves ailing Kadiri Ikhana to Abuja hospital

After due consultations with family and friends, a sports philanthropist, Peter Omoh Dunia, has moved ailing former international defender, Kadiri Ikhana, to a Turkish hospital in Abuja for further medical attention.

The philanthropist is of the same Etsakor, Edo State extraction as Ikhana. Former international, Harrison Jalla, said yesterday in a message to The Guardian that Dunia is his bosom friend, and patron of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), led by Tijani Babangida.

“I contacted him when I read a piece by Chief Segun Odegbami on Ikhana’s health late on Tuesday, July 15. I immediately put a call across to him that night; he was outside the country but gave me his word that he would help.

“As the Saturday meeting was going on, Peter Dunia made an instant call to the Turkish Hospital management to expect Coach Kadiri Ikhana on Monday, July 21, 2025. As we speak, after a series of tests, Coach Kadiri Ikhana was admitted at 6.00 p.m. on Monday for better and further medical attention.

“This is a clarion call to all Nigerian sports authorities, both at the federal and state levels, that they must wake up to their responsibilities and duty of care to Nigerian sportsmen and women, current and retired.”

No senior government official, either at the state or federal level, would have used the Irrua Specialist Hospital as a final medical destination concerning any ailment,” Jalla stated.
