The first official Professional Golfers’ Association of Nigeria (PGAN) sanctioned Tour event to be hosted at the high profile Smokin Hills Golf Resort Ilara Mokin in Ondo state has been confirmed to hold from May 19 to 22.

The first official Professional Golfers’ Association of Nigeria (PGAN) sanctioned Tour event to be hosted at the high profile Smokin Hills Golf Resort Ilara Mokin in Ondo state has been confirmed to hold from May 19 to 22.

The 2015 edition of the annual Consolidated Management Consultants Limited (CMCL) sponsored championship will hold at the 6510 metered championship course, which in a lot of ways is expected to stretch the players to the limit.

Much unlike existing championship courses in the country, Smokin Hills’ grass is bespoke and the layout is majestic, and the Tournament Coordinator of the PGAN, Jide Bolaji, has said that the development is, “an exciting one and it should encourage proprietors of equally promising golf facilities to host Tour events.”

The pros are expected to tee-off from May 19 for a four-day battle for the title last won by Emos Korblah at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja last May.

PGAN Tournament Director, Martin Odoh, also said all members of the body have been looking forward to playing the course, especially against the background of positive reviews that has come from amateur that have played the course.

“The only challenge I think we may have is length of the course, which many have said may warrant the use of cart. I must confess, I have not confirmed it, but we will make sure our members have the best of time there,” Odoh said.

Amateur players are also billed for the CMCL Pro-Am; they will be vying for trophies over 36 holes from May 22 to 23, while their professional counterparts will be eying a slice of the professional winning purse, which has not been announced.
