Purple House has emerged champions of Juli Schools’ seventh inter-house competition, beating Red and Yellow houses to the second and third positions respectively.

Esther Otuekong of the Red House won the 100 metres senior girls, while Jordan Bawaromale of the Blue House carried the day in the boys’ event.

The junior boys and girls 100 metres were won by Solomon Gabriel and Adedeji Fathair of the Purple House,, but the most thrilling events of the day were the 400 metres and relay race, which kept the spectators, including parents and teachers, on the edge of their seats.

Despite the fact that Junior Secondary School and Senior Secondary School students are a few steps to their Junior and Senior West African final examinations, the schools’ management said it was very imperative to hold the sports competition as “all work no play make Jack a dull boy.”

In his opening speech, the Proprietor of the school, Mr. Lawrence Adeleke, representing the Chairman Mr. Olusegun Adeleke, thanked God, parents, pupils, students, teachers, invited schools, management staff, Lagos State Ministry of Education and all well-wishers for making the day a reality as the schools would be marking 33rd anniversary this year.

Adeleke emphasized the importance of sports in education of the child as means of promoting sound mind and bodily fitness, leadership skills, tolerance, patience, obedience, perseverance, determination, cooperation/friendliness and enthusiasm to succeed not only in sporting activities but in real live.

The highlights of the event were colourful match past, karate display, choreography, distribution of plastic bowls, buckets, awards of trophies and medals to winners.
