The newly renovated Luik Recreation Club, the first private elite tennis club in Lekki Phase One, will host the Zenith Bank Next Gen Tennis Masters, which begins tomorrow. 14. To ensure that the players, who represent the best talent that will take over from the present top senior stars, have excellent facilities to play, the club renovated its courts to motivate the players to play their best tennis.

“That is the least we can do to give the players the best conditions to play their best tennis,” the CEO of the club, Uzonna Izugbokwe, said.

The Zenith Bank Next Generation Masters has always been successful in identifying the most promising talent in the country. In 2018, Marylove Edwards was given a wild card to play in the tournament and she is currently the No.1 player in the senior women’s ranking.

This year, the players selected for the boys are Muktar Andu, David Dawariye, David Ekpeyong, Daniel Adeleye, Moses Olamilekan, Seun Ogunsakin, Ganiyu Mubarak and Miracle Ikeguruka. In the girls’ category are Rebecca Ekpeyong, Destiny Okhinaye, Favour Moses, Khadijat Mohammed, Chidinma Ezeh, Timipre Maxwell, Angel Macleod and Ohunene Yakubu. 

The competition, which is organised by the International Tennis Academy (ITA), will feature round robin group matches leading to the semifinals and the finals, which will hold on December 18, starting from 2.00 p.m.
