SACF awards scholarships to 20 youths
A total of 20 young students from the six football zones in the country will be beneficiaries of the Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Foundation (SACF) scholarships for the 2023 edition.
The event holds at the Maracana Stadium in Ajegunle on December 29 with 24 teams expected on parade. Four boys and four girls’ U-15 teams will be at the one-day event, while the U-13 category will feature 16 teams, comprising eight boys and eight girls’ teams.
The teams competing in the U-15 category are Ajegunle United, Dazzle FA (Orphanage Home), Lofty Skills Soccer Academy and Bright Future Stars (largely composed of U-13 ekofootball players that have grown to U-15).
A member of the organising committee, Dotun Coker, said on Monday that all plans were in top gear to make the participants enjoy themselves on Friday in Ajegunle.
“We have people working on separate issues and we also coordinate activities centrally. We expect a good show at the Maracana on December 29,” he said.
In the last edition held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan, 60 students were given scholarships to mark the 60th birthday of the founder, Seyi Akinwunmi, the former first Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
