Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said he looks forward to working together with Super Eagles and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen to improve football in Lagos.

Osimhen last Thursday scored the all-important goal to help Napoli win the Italian Serie A title for the first time in 33-years after playing out a 1-1 draw with Udinese.

Napoli needed just one point against Udinese at the Dacia Arena so as to win this season’s Serie A title and the Nigerian attacker came to the party.

Osimhen’s 22nd league strike of the season clinched Napoli’s third Serie A crown after canceling out Sandi Lovric’s opener.

Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday night hailed Osimhen following his exploits at Napoli.

“So many stories begin in Lagos and it’s always a moment of pride for me to see young people from our city achieving great things,” Sanwo-Olu tweeted.

“A big congratulations to Victor Osimhen @victorosimhen9 on blazing the trail in the Serie A goal scoring charts, leading your team to the league title as well as breaking George Weah’s record as the highest scoring African in the league.

“As someone who talks about his humble roots in Lagos and continues to give back in amazing ways, we say keep flying the flag of Nigeria high with your impressive performances for Napoli.

“I look forward to working together soon to take football in Lagos to greater heights,” the governor tweeted. On Sunday Osimhen’s 23rd league goal of the 2022/23 season saw him surpass George Weah’s record of 46 goals in 114 appearances across five seasons.”
