SONIC thrashes Effortswill 6-1, Misam upsets defending champions
The on-going Lagos Inter-Schools Football Competition continues to record high scoring rates, as teams battle to get to the final stages of the competition.
At the weekend, Sonic Schools, Isolo, thrashed Effortswill Schools, Ejigbo, 6-1 with Idris Abdullahi getting two of the goals.
The result marked the first home defeat of Effortswill in a decade in the competition organised by Wonderland Sports.
Another high scoring tie witnessed at the weekend was Misam Schools, Ajasa’s 4-0 defeat of defending champions, First Apex, a result that kept the unbeaten record of the Ajasa side in the primary school category intact.
In the college category, Comrade College, Isolo, whipped Megatrio Schools, Isolo, 5-0 with Solomon Abanum scoring a hat-trick, while Arisonia College, Egbeda, defeated Jelly-Las Schools, Agege, 2-0.
In other games played at the weekend, Honeyland came from behind to win 2-1 against Feascoat Schools, Ipaja, while Effortswill Schools, Ejigbo, managed a 1-0 victory over Phidel College of Idimu.
The result means Phidel only has a slim chance of reaching the round of 16 following an earlier 2-1 loss to Highque Schools Isolo.
Doregos Private Academy secured a 3-2 victory over Dee Unique College, Abesan Estate, while Murtala Airport Staff Schools surrendered a two-goal lead to lose 2-3 to Will B Excellence.
Action will resume tomorrow with seven matches, including the battle between
Elibel Schools, Abesan Estate, and Feascoat Schools, Ipaja.
Last season’s finalist, Shalom Schools, Baruwa, will face defending champions, First Apex of Alagbado in a repeat of last season’s final in the primary category.
In the college category, Soundhope College, Ipaja, will square up against Arisonia College, Prime Focus will meet last season’s finalist, Cedar College, Baruwa, Faith Heritage Schools will face Dee -Unique College, Abesan Estate.
