While Gyan, 32, was trained at the Ghanaian soccer academy named Right to Dream consequent upon which he relocated to the United States of America to further hone his skills on the pitch, Omolo, also 32, got his first call-up to the Kenyan national team in 2010 and made his debut for the country the following year.

Gyan later joined Toronto FC of Canada in 2011, and has played for the Norwegian Premier League, the Swedish Halmstads BK, among other teams. Omolo, on his own part, equally took his career to the global scene by signing with BB Erzurumspor in Turkey after he had represented the Kenyan national team in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored a goal against Tanzania.
