After an impressive performance for his Saudi Arabian club, Al-Shabab, Super Eagles returnee Odion Ighalo has won the West Asia player of the month award for October.

Al-Shabab announced the victory on their Instagram page, which the Nigerian international also re-shared on his own page.

Ighalo has scored nine goals in 11 league games so far this season for Al-Shabab, four of which came in October.

Recall that Ighalo was recalled to the Super Eagles by Head Coach Gernot Rohr for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde later this month.

He had announced his retirement from international football after the Super Eagles’ third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ighalo made his Super Eagles debut in 2015, going on to make 35 appearances before retiring from international football.

He scored 16 times for the Super Eagles, leaving him seventh on the Super Eagles’ all-time top scorers’ list behind Samson Siasia (17 goals), Obafemi Martins (18 goals), Ikechukwu Uche (19 goals), Yakubu Aiyegbeni (21 goals), Segun Odegbami (22 goals), and Rashidi Yekini (37 goals).
