The committee, headed by the President of Para Weightlifting Nigeria, Queen Oboh Idris, was at Total’s headquarters at the weekend. It also has former internationals, Samson Siasia, Augustine Eguavoen and Waidi Akanni as members. The committee is saddled with the responsibility of raising funds to support the Eagles by sponsoring fans to Russia through promos.

The visit to Total was led by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Adesola Olushade, who stated that the minister, Solomon Dalung was passionate about the programme, while urging Nigerians and corporate bodies to give their support to the Eagles.

“This programme is close to the minister’s heart. He wants a situation where Nigerians will have the opportunity to fly to Russia and support the Eagles. In this wise, he has given the committee is full backing to raise Funds for this purpose.

“It is obvious that we need to reach out to corporate organizations that can contribute to this course, and that is why we are at Total Nigeria PLC. We hope that other well-meaning organizations will join this noble course,” Olushade added.

Oboh praised Total for the immense jobs it is doing in Nigeria and urged them to give their support to the committee. She also called on everyone to support the Eagles as they set to fly Nigeria’s flag in Russia.
Earlier, Deputy Managing Director of Total, Engr. Musa Kida praised the committee and assured that he would relay its message to the managing director who is in the best position to know what can be done to help the Eagles soar in Russia.

Meanwhile, Match Hospitality AG, the exclusive worldwide hospitality rights holder appointed by FIFA for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, has declared as illegal the activities of tourist and hospitality companies claiming to sell packages to Nigerians ahead of the tournament in Russia.
