Mfon Udoh scored a brace on Sunday for Enyimba International Football Club of Aba to beat visiting Nasarawa United FC 2-1 in a 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture.

Goals in the 12th and 62nd minutes of the Match Day 5 fixture played at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar gave the former champions victory in their adopted homeground.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adamu Hassan’s 38th minute equaliser was not enough to give the visiting Lafia-based side any reprieve. Enyimba’s coach Gbenga Ogunbote told newsmen after the match that his team’s performance was “excellent’’.

Ogunbote expressed satisfaction with the game’s outcome, saying he was happy that Calabar had been a winning ground for them. Kabiru Dogo, coach of Nasarawa United, also commended his team for their performance.

“Although we lost the match today against Enyimba, I can authoritatively say that my boys played well,’’ he said.
