“I believe that inviting him into the national team is a good one. Let him come, I believe this will bring competition among the goalkeepers. He has to come and fight for the jersey. Ezenwa to me has done well so far.”

Former Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Joseph Dosu, has applauded the invitation of Deportivo La Coruña goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, to the national team in preparation for the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria and the friendly game against Argentina.

Nigeria, which has already qualified for the World Cup, will meet Algeria in its last qualifier for the competition in Algeria on November 10 and face Argentina in an international friendly four days later in Krasnodar, Russia.

Uzoho was among the 24 players listed for the matches and according to Dosu, the Spain-based goalkeeper would bring his quality to the Eagles, which would also force the goalkeepers to up their game.

“Uzoho was the third choice in the 2013 U-17 team where Dele Alampasu was the first choice and now both of them have grown up and become mature goalkeepers. Uzoho now plays for Deportivo and I have watched him twice behind the post for his club and I think the young lad has done well for himself.

“I believe that inviting him into the national team is a good one. Let him come, I believe this will bring competition among the goalkeepers. He has to come and fight for the jersey. Ezenwa to me has done well so far.”

Dosu, who now runs an academy, praised the Eagles’ technical crew for spreading its tent to other players for a better team.

“Inviting Uzoho is a good one for him as it will boost his confidence. It is also a good one for the technical crew because having another goalkeeper in the team will give them options in picking the best for the nation,” he stated.

The other goalkeepers in the squad for the matches are Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi.
