The Chairman of Vata Group and Saydef, Alhaji Tajudeen Adefisoye has urged the elite to support youth development by building and maintaining sports facilities in their communities.

Speaking while presenting cash prizes and other materials to the winner and runner-up of a six-a-side football competition he sponsored in Idanre Community of Ondo State, Adefisoye said supporting the youths to develop their sports skills would in turn help to reduce crime in the society.

The competition, which featured 12 teams, attracted more than 5,000 spectators, with Ajidax FC beating Ajisec FC 2-1 to cart home the trophy.

Fielding questions from journalists, Adefisoye said the competition was part of his desire to provide positive leadership for his followers. He added: “My ambition is to develop young talents by providing positive leadership that will make them self-reliant and also engineering them to self discovery and self actualization.”

He admonished the players to imbibe the words of the legendary footballer, Michael Irvin to “look up, get up and don’t give up.”

Adefisoye promised “selected footballers that have distinguished themselves in the competition would be admitted into the Vata Football Academy and we promise to support them with all required to actualize their dreams of becoming professional footballers.”
