Every true gospel centres on the person of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. There is no other message to preach than Jesus the Saviour of the world and the only Name by which we all could be saved.

Text: John 1:29-36
Key Verse: John 1:29, “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (NKJV)

Every true gospel centres on the person of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. There is no other message to preach than Jesus the Saviour of the world and the only Name by which we all could be saved. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved, except the Name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Only Jesus has the power to save! His Name is the only one in the entire world that can save anyone.

In the book of John Chapter One, John the apostle bears witness to Christ and affirmed the incontrovertible fact that only Jesus can save from sin. John said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” When a man says “Behold!” he sees something himself, he sees that something with clearness, and he desires you to see and experience it, and therefore he cries, “Behold!” My beloved, behold the Lamb of God who can change your life from wickedness, sin, rebellion, adultery, fornication, hypocrisy, deceit, disobedience, drunkenness, rebellion, pride, stubbornness and spiritual foolishness.

Any gospel that is not centered on Christ is not the true gospel. Jesus is the only lamb, just like He is the only begotten. Every lamb and other animals that have been used for sacrifice in the Old Testament are all pointing to Jesus. God’s redemption plan after the fall of man points to Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. After the fall of our first parents, Adam and Eve, God in His Mercy and love sent Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God to die for the sins of the whole world.

Jesus Christ was meek, gentle and submissive just like a lamb, so that He would fulfil the redemption purpose of God for mankind. Jesus Christ was oppressed and painfully afflicted for the sins of the world, yet He did not open His mouth. Like a lamb, He submitted himself to be slaughtered and like a sheep, He was silent before her shearers, He did not open His mouth (Isaiah 53:7). Jesus came down from Heaven not to do His own will, but to do the will of His father (John 6:38). Jesus said, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work” (John 4:34).

Today, you can learn from Jesus exemplary lifestyle. Jesus said, “Learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Mathew 11:29b). If you lay claim to be a follower of Christ, you should learn from Jesus and follow His footsteps. You must hunger and desire to be like Jesus, and then you can be called His disciple. As you continually drink in the Word of God, there is one great goal you should aspire to attain and that is to be like Jesus the Lamb of God.

Sin has always been the problem. Sin makes you come short of God’s standards and demands of the Word of God. Beloved, behold the Lamb of God who takes away your sins. If you give your life to Jesus today, that hold of the devil on your life will be broken. Only Jesus breaks the chains of sin, no other person does.
