Bread from Heaven
John 6:49-51: “Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50: This is the bread which cometh down from heaven that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51: I am the living bread, which came down from heaven: if any man eats of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
Food, often represented by bread, is a major edible item that keeps human life going. Without food, human beings will die physically. This is because with prolonged starvation the human bones will be weak, the flesh will shrink, the body system will be dehydrated and the body will lose weight.
However, the Bible emphasises that man should not live by bread alone, which simply means that there is another type of food that could keep man alive. This other type of food is spiritual and comes from God. As long as man dwells on earth both the physical and spiritual foods are important, as both combined keeps man going on this planet and even hereafter. There is a great difference between the spiritual and the physical food. A man that is well fed with physical food, but starved of the spiritual one will eventually die; but if an individual is fed with spiritual, but starved of the physical food, notwithstanding that he will die, he will surely live again and forever with his maker. In all ramifications, spiritual food is more important, if not indispensable. It is only an individual that is shortsighted and serves God for the immediate gains that will prefer physical food above the spiritual.
In the lead scripture, our Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples that even though their fathers ate manna that fell from heaven in the wilderness, that the people still died because manna was a physical food. He told them that, He, Jesus Christ is the bread from heaven and whosoever eats Him will not die, but live forever. Our Lord Jesus Christ, therefore, is the bread from heaven, which will be eaten as spiritual food. Whosoever eats this spiritual bread will live forever. This is why John 6:30-35 says: “They said therefore unto him, what sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? What dost thou work? 31: Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. 32: Then Jesus said unto them, verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. 33: For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34: Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35: And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
Our Lord Jesus Christ is the bread from heaven; He said whosoever eats Him will not die, but live forever. This simply means that we should accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. We are to embrace His words, obey them and internalise them. Jesus Christ is the Author and Finisher of our faith; we are to live our lives according to His standard. There is no other name through which salvation can be given to man, except through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, for us to live eternally, we must eat Him; that is, accept Him in our lives. Through Jesus Christ we can live a life devoid of physical food on earth, which is the reason God sent Him from heaven to earth. However, before the coming of Jesus Christ, God told the Israelites when they were hungry in the wilderness on their way from Egypt to the Promised Land that man is not to live by bread alone.
Deuteronomy 8:1-3 says: “All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers. 2: And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or not. 3: And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.”
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of the Lord. Obedient to the word of God is eating the bread from heaven, which is Jesus Christ. The word of God gives eternal life in heaven; as such we are to faithfully embrace it. It is only by faith that a Christian’s life is given a purpose and a conviction. By faith, we believe we will make heaven and live forever with our Lord Jesus Christ. It is also by faith that we shall get the benefits of our belief from God both on earth and hereafter. Faith is the legal tender with which we get whatever we need from God in His kingdom. Embracing our Lord Jesus Christ will make whatever blessing we ask from God to get to us. Mark 9:23 says: “Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”
When we faithfully believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, the bread from heaven, our requests, including the salvation of our souls, fruitful in bearing children and in other areas of life, progress in business and in paid employment, long life and eternal life in heaven where we will stay with our maker forever will be ours.
In your Christian race embrace our Lord Jesus Christ, the bread from heaven; eat Him, drink Him and accept Him for whom He is, not for the miracles, but for whom He is and you will make heaven at the end of your stay on this earth. He is the Son of God and the Giver of eternal life.
Testimony Of The Lord’s Doing
How God Resolved 28 Years Of Barrenness
Matt 19:26 says: “Jesus beheld them and said, ‘with men, this is impossible but with God, all things are possible.”’ God of Chosen is truly, God of impossibility. He did a great thing in my life and that of my family.
I am Sister Ann Ogochukwu Igwegbe, the wife of Brother Michael Chinedu Igwegbe. Our daughter’s name is Miracle Perfect-Gift Chizaramekpere Michael. We became members of the Lord’s Charistmaic Ministry in 2004 and I am most grateful to God for it. I am also grateful to the Almighty God for breaking the yoke of 28 years and 11 months of barrenness in my marriage.
It was not an easy journey, but in all, God of Chosen made a name for Himself. My miracle started at Mgbidi 2021, where our daddy, the General Overseer, mentioned my case when he said: “There is a woman here, you have been looking for the fruit of the womb for a very long time and it seems impossible; today, I will break the yoke.” I claimed it and fell under anointing and when I recovered myself, I knew that the word was for me. We came back to Lagos and I continued in prayer, telling God if not for anything, He should confirm the word of His servant in my life. After this, I saw myself in a trance, where a baby was handed over to me; two months later I became pregnant. And when it got to the time for me to give birth, battle arose. I kept on coming to church, even though the pregnancy was at its 11 months and a week. Worried of this, I met our General Overseer and he prayed for me and said: “ Go home, it is settled.”
The following week of meeting our General Overseer, I had a dream where a hand lifted me out from an evil habitation. Two days later, I had another dream where a big tree was uprooted from its root. The tree fell and as I woke up the following day, my composition changed and I was taken to the hospital where I had a bouncing baby girl. Praise the Lord!
God of Chosen is so great. I really appreciate Him for all He has done. At this juncture, I am grateful to my husband who has been very patient, and a source of encouragement to me, may God continue to bless him.
I pray for my General Overseer, our Mummy-in-the-Lord, and Chosen members across the globe.
