Text: Luke 5:1-9
Key Verse: Luke 5:5, “And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.” (KJV)

The Word of God is powerful and sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword and can break the power of failure in one’s life when engaged and applied. The Word of God is a force that can break the cycles of unproductivity in your life. Before engaging force of the Word of God was applied in Peter’s life, Peter toiled all through the night and caught nothing but after the Word was engaged and applied, Peter caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.

A toiler is one who labours painfully without fruits of his labour. In the book, The Richest Man in Babylon, Bansir and Kobbi were two friends living in the ancient city of Babylon, blessed with plenty of gold (wealth and natural resources), yet they had lean purses. They toiled and worked hard for 24 hours yet they were broke. They were “Working, working, working! Getting nowhere.” Some of us today, our lives can be likened to the lives of these two friends (Bansir and Kobbi). Peter said to Jesus, “we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing.”

Have you been experiencing failure in your business, career, marriage, academics, ministry and profession? Are things getting worse day by day even the more you try to get it right? Beloved, I have a word from Heaven for you “Launch into the deep for a catch.” Jesus said to Peter, “Launch out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Don’t allow the fear of another failure keep you in procrastination and excuses. Peter said to Jesus, “Master we have toiled all through the night and have caught nothing, nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.” People use excuses to rationalise their actions regarding their circumstances and certain events. However, excuses are often the primary reasons people are unable to accomplish what they want out of life.

Have you worked hard all through life and yet nothing to show for it? Jesus is saying to you today, launch out again for a catch and you will not fail again. Have you taken that professional exam many times without success? Jesus is saying to you, at His Word, try again and you will have good success. The devil wants to use the psychology of your past failure to diffuse your strength never to try again. He constantly reminds you of how you failed yesterday, so that you don’t try again. That your business failed does not make you a failure, it was the business that failed and not you.

It is not God’s design that you suffer forever but for a while. 1 Peter 5:10 says, “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” Today is your day of freedom and I decree you are free from failure in Jesus Name, Amen.

Beloved, it’s a brand new day, the old things are gone. The fact that you woke up this morning is an affirmation that a new chapter just began. You are not begotten into hopelessness but into a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3). There is no hopeless case with God and things don’t get worse with God.
