Growing in stature – Part 1
Spiritual stature is very important in the Divine economy of things. It is the place of favour obtained in God as we yield to His dealings and working of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and lives. The tragedy today is that God’s pulpit are being manned by people who have consistently resisted God’s dealings in their lives and as such have no stature with God. God finds it extremely difficult to use people that He has not made. He told Peter, “and I will make you…”(Matt. 4:19). God makes men and the man that God makes builds for God. The way Jesus builds His Church is to first build men on the revelation of Himself. That revelation is the Rock (foundation) upon which the man that has been made begins to build for God (Matt. 16:18).
God only makes men. The man that God has not made cannot build for God. This is one of the fundamental problems of the church today. Many pulpits are manned by men that have not yielded to the moulding hands of God. Listen friend, if God has not made you, then you cannot build anything for God and you are of no use to Him. This is the reason many churches today are herbalist homes and places where feigned words are used to make merchandise of the people. Many churches are places for moral training rather than the place for spiritual development because such churches are manned by people that have no experience with God. The church is supposed to be a place for spiritual training. When the people of God are developed spiritually, they will be morally sound.
Spiritual stature determines ministerial boundaries given by God. Therefore, in order for you to be effective for God in this final Hour of Divine programme for the world, you must begin to seek for stature with God instead of popularity with men. It is possible to be popular with men without having stature with God.
Spiritual stature is the product of the moulding hands of the potter upon the clay. (Jer 18:1-6). It is the moulding hand of God that produces stature with God. It comes from our obedient responses to God’s dealings in our lives and it is usually accompanied with much pains and sufferings. As sufferings increase, stature also increases, at which time God, multiplies resources to that man, and his boundaries of influence also increase. Even, Jesus, who grew in stature to become the captain of our salvation was perfected through sufferings (Heb 2:10).
