Ajayi Crowther University is establishing a campus in the historic town of Osoogun, where Bishop Ajayi Crowther, the first African Bishop was born. In addition to the St. Andrews Campus Oyo, two new campuses (College of Medicine and Faculty of Engineering), as well as Faculty of Agriculture at Awe Campus were opened within the past six months.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor, the Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo Asaju, with the Bishop of Ajayi Crowther Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Kemi Oduntan, dedicated 40 hectares of land for the take-off of the University campus.

The campus will host the ‘Centre for Anglican Communion studies,’ ‘Centre for Mission Studies,’ ‘Department of History and Archival studies’ ‘Entrepreneurship Centre’ and Faculty of Agriculture, all to take off in September 2020. Also proposed are Crowther Museum and Archive and eventually the mausoleum to contain remains of Bishop Ajayi Crowther, whose remains needed to be reburied in his hometown Osoogun, where he was captured in 1821 (This will be determined by the national church).

So far, 94 buildings were executed in the three campuses during the five-year tenure of the Rt. Rev. Prof Dapo Folorunsho Asaju, all internally funded. The tenure of Asaju will be ending in few months’ time.
