“And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote you? And many other things blasphemously spoke they against him” (Luke 22:63-65)

BLASPHEMY is defined as an act or offence of speaking sacrilegiously about God. In other words, it is the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to God. It also entails saying things that are disrespectful concerning God. It is a great sin to speak against one’s Maker. We must watch our utterances concerning any matter that has to do with God. 1Peter 4:13-14 says “But rejoice, inasmuch as you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy. If you be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are you; for the spirit of glory and of God rests on you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.” Preaching the gospel everywhere is a necessity. We should not be ashamed to preach the gospel of Christ. Ignorance, arrogance and pride, make humans to blaspheme the name God. If you are in doubts of God’s existence, and you want to know more about Jesus or the Bible, it would be preferable that you humble yourself, go down on your knees and pray this way, “Jesus if truly you are the Son of God, reveal Yourself to me today.” By doing this, the Lord will reveal Himself to you, and even show you the secret things you never know.

As a born again Christian, blasphemous words must not proceed out of your mouth or heart, because you are sanctified. You must always give the Holy Spirit a chance to dwell in you, as you forsake all sin, such as anger, wrath, malice, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, bearing false witness, idolatry, hypocrisy, blasphemy, filthy communication out of the mouth, and many more. Exodus 20:7 says “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.” Therefore, blasphemy against God is forbidden.

We should not be shocked, when more people blaspheme the name of God today, because these are signs of the End Time. According to 2Timothy 3:1-3, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good.” Your sin can be forgiven today, only if you have a repentant heart. The Lord delights in forgiving you your sins, for He is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast Love.
