Deception starts when men of God see themselves as supermen — Oyemade

President/Pastor of Bearers of Light (BOL) church, Dr. Sam Oyemade, has admonished men of God, not to arrogate any special power to themselves, but to live normally as men. He noted that the moment church leaders begin to see themselves as supermen, deception sets in and before they could realise it, they have fallen from grace. Pastor Oyemade said this at the briefing to unveil the church’s ministers and church leaders practical Christianity conference that will hold from September 29 to 30, 2023.

Citing example for the Bible of how men of God should see themselves, BOL’s president said: “The purpose is to ensure we don’t have too much expectation from ourselves. For instance, if I hold a revival of I, 000 participants, and I say I will pray and everyone at the revival will be healed. That means I am stepping out of my bounds. When we operate as men people should not see us as superman, otherwise when we fall sick, the people will ask, can’t we pray for ourselves? That is where deception starts. When we operate as leaders without arrogating any special power to ourselves we will live a normal life. “The conference will also reach out to non-ministers and followers who love God and want to know more about the things of God.

But, basically, we are focusing on the leaders because Jesus warned; strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter. If the shepherds are in good shape, that is, doing what they are supposed to do, there are good chances that the sheep will follow suit.” Speaking to journalists, Oyemade explained that this year’s programme, which is the seventh edition has, “Distinguishing The Nature Of Christ As God And As Man,” as theme. He noted that the programme will reach out to different church ministers and leaders with the aim to impact on them so that they can impact others, particularly their followers. According to him, “the conference is usually an open and interactive conference of ministers from all walks of life. We want to look at the nature of Christ and to distinguish when Christ is acting as man, and when He is acting as God.”
