Text: Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 49:22; Psalms 1:1-3; Isaiah 3:10; Genesis 26:21-22.Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:10 “Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness,” (NKJV).

Fruitfulness is to flourish by deploying your body, talents, ideas and character in a productive and Godly service. When Jacob was about to die, he invited all his children to bless them. He got to the turn of Joseph, he said, “Joseph is a fruitful vine whose branches climb over a wall”. Being fruitful result in prospering in all that you do. Being fruitful is not limited to giving birth to children naturally. You may not have earthly physical children, but you can be fruitful.

In Africa, having babies is one of the most important aspect of our lives, but on the Day of Judgment, God will never ask you, ‘how many children do you have’. The question will be, ‘how were you fruitful with your talents, ideas and character that God has given you?’

In Genesis Chapter 26, Isaac was fruitful despite the extreme difficulties he faced in the Philistines land. He turned deserts into fruitful ground. Isaiah 3:10, declares, “Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.” God is honoured, when you are fruitful and He blesses you when you are being fruitful. Being fruitful is fulfilling the dominion mandate given to you upon creation.

There is a far wider implication of being fruitful than just giving birth to children. Psalm 1:3 says, “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” A pertinent question here is: Are you fruitful with the talents, gifts and grace God has bestowed upon you?

A very important fact to note about the fruit is that it is produced by the seed. It is very clear from 2 Corinthians 9:10 that God gives everyone He created ‘Seed’ to sow, that is God general equaliser. Everybody will receive from God seed to sow, why? So that you can have something to generate the fruit from.

God is righteous and cannot ask you to be fruitful without giving you the “Seed’ to generate the fruit from. God takes it upon Himself to equip you with all to be fruitful. God cannot say ‘Be Fruitful’ without giving you the capacity to bear fruits. Nobody is created to be fruitless.

God gives seed to the sower, because the fruit is going to come from the seed. God does not give you what does not come from Him. The Seed is God-given, but the bread comes from man’s creation, invention and effort. God does not make bread man makes bread.

You do not eat the seed, but you eat the bread. Bread is processed, but seed is not. Bread is for eating, but the seed is for sowing. For example, bread comes from the wheat and wheat comes from the seed of wheat.

When you came into existence here on earth, you came with the seed within you. God multiplies the Seed. God does not multiply you by how much you consume, but by the seed you sow. Seed here does not refer to “money,” but God’s investment in your life. The seed refers to the talents God Has invested in you to be able to fulfil the dominion mandate. The seed talent is inborn and part of your nature. It is wired into your system.

It is the strengths God has packaged inside of you before you were born. Fruitfulness is deploying the seed inside of you to work. You were not born with the ability to sustain yourself. For example, a Doctor and Nurse helped to bring you out of your mother’s womb. The baby milk that you took during the period of your infantry, did you produce them? No, other people produced them for you to enjoy. The question is: What have you produced as a result of the seed invested inside of you that other people are enjoying?

Today’s Nugget: You do not eat the seed but you eat the bread
Prayer: Lord, help me to fulfil the dominion mandate
