Dreams

Dreams are when God reveals Himself to us, the hour of divine visitation. All we have to do is to go to sleep and God comes down to our level. He tells us about Himself or about how He feels about something.

Rev. Theodore Effiong

“For God [does reveal His will; He] speaks not only once, but more than once, even though men do not regard it [including you, Job]. [One may hear God’s voice] in a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men while slumbering upon the bed, Then He opens the ears of men and seals their instruction [terrifying them with warnings], That He may withdraw man from his purpose and cut off pride from him…He holds him back from the pit [of destruction], and his life from perishing by the sword…” Job 33:14-18 AMP

EACH night you lay down to sleep, a doorway into the heavenly realms is being opened unto you. Every time you sleep, an opportunity to contact God is presented unto you. The Bible says that every night God speaks to each of His children by dreams, not once, nor twice. But why is it that you wake up every morning oblivious of a divine presence or visitation? “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, THAT THOU VISITEST HIM?” Psalm 8:4

Dreams are when God reveals Himself to us, the hour of divine visitation. All we have to do is to go to sleep and God comes down to our level. He tells us about Himself or about how He feels about something. He reveals His heart to us and our future, giving us strategy. In dreams, He reveals to us in our language His secrets. “And he dreamed…And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, surely the Lord is in this place, AND I KNEW IT NOT.” Genesis 28:12 & 16

Nebuchadnezzar had the same problem. Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, “Wherewith his spirit was troubled and his sleep broke from him…The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, the thing is gone from me…shew me the dream and all the interpretation thereof” Daniel 2:1, 5 & 6.

We all dream, but our problem is having the ability to recall what we dreamed. God used Daniel to recall the King’s dream. This ought not to be so. We need to be aware of our dreams and their contents. For in our dreams, divine instructions and guidance is given to us. Warnings, rebukes, admonition and caution are granted.

All Of The Bible Heroes Prospered In Life By The Medium Of Dreams
Abraham received by dream advanced information concerning his offspring. Genesis 15:12–14. Abraham was visited by God while in a deep sleep. Medically, there is a stage in deep sleep you will notice a person’s eyeballs fluttering, yet the eyes are closed. They call this Rapid Eye Movement (REM). This is the period one could be visited from the spirit realm, either by God or by demons. At that point, your body and human flesh are at rest, you are now open to receive from the spiritual realm.

Jacob in a dream received supernatural intervention from God that resulted in all the cattle becoming ring streaked, speckled and grizzled as a recompense for all the wages Laban cheated him of. Genesis 31:10 -13.Joseph dreamed two dreams that spoke of his brethren becoming servants to him. Genesis 37:5-9. Both of these dreams played out in real life. Dreams are powerful messengers. They control the physical realm.

Likewise, Solomon had two dreams that revolutionised his life. The first dream was after offering 1000 burnt offerings. “In Gibeon, the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said ask what I shall give thee.” 1 Kings 3:5.When you study 1 Kings 3:9-14, you will discover that God and Solomon were both talking and communicating with each other in a dream. This resulted in him being endowed with the gift of wisdom plus wealth and honour.

The second dream came after the dedication of the temple. “Then the Lord appeared unto Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.” 1 Kings 9:2. In a nutshell, God told him, ‘if you walk before me as David your father did, I will establish you forever. If you forsake me, I will forsake you. Even the house you have dedicated unto me, I will cast out of my sight. All that he dreamt manifested.’

Joseph the husband of Mary was warned in a dream not to reject Mary as his wife.“Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.” Matthew 1:19-20.

Then after the death of Herod, he was instructed again in a dream by an angel to return to Israel. Matthew 2:19–21. Then he received a warning also in another dream not to enter Judea but to go to Galilee as Archaleus the son of Herod was on seat. Matthew 1: 22– 23.
