Joint heirs with Christ – Part 3
An heir is a partaker of the benefits that accompany salvation. Jesus did not die for Himself, but died for our benefits. Believers in Christ are joint heirs with Christ and partakers of inheritance with Christ. In other words, born again children of God are fellow inheritors of the inheritance God Had given to Christ.
Jesus is the inheritor that sprang forth out of Jacob. Isaiah 65:9, “And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.” The only route to become a co-inheritor with Christ is by coming into a relationship with Him by being Born Again.
“Glory” is an inheritance believers in Christ share with Him. As joint heirs with Christ, we share the “Glory of Christ” which God gave Him. In John 17:22, Jesus said, “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one.” What a great privilege to be a partaker of the glory of Christ. Glory is the exclusive preserve of those who are in Christ Jesus.
“Glory” is what distinguishes a child of God from someone who has not received Christ. “Glory” cannot be bought but anyone can buy car, land, estate, etc. “Glory” is the privilege right of a child of God. Even the disciples of Jesus testified of the fact that they were eye witnesses and partakers of God’s glory. 2 Peter 1:16, “For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.”
A born again child of God is a co-inheritor of the glory and honor that Christ received from His Father, God. 2 Peter 1:17, “For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory; this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” This same glory that Jesus received from His Father, has been given to the children of God (John 17:22).
The “glory” that man had in Eden was lost in the Garden of Eden to the Devil but Jesus came to recover and restore the “glory” back to mankind. Luke 4:6, “And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.”“Glory” is the inheritance we have in Christ and we are called for His glory. Whom God Has called, He justified and whom He justified, He glorified. Romans 8:30, “Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”
We were prepared in advance for His Glory. God spared us from destruction of sin that He may make the riches of his glory shine even brighter on us to whom He had shown mercy. Romans 9:23 (NLT), “He does this to make the riches of his glory shine even brighter on those to whom he shows mercy, who were prepared in advance for glory.”
Beloved, I enjoin you to run away from sin and its destruction and come to Christ, so that you will also be a partaker of His majesty, which is our inheritance in Christ. Accept Jesus today and it shall be well with you.
