Leading better – Part 2

SAM ADEYEMI said: “We must think better to become better. Leaders are not just called to manage, but to create change.” How we know that a leader is around the corner is by the changes he creates in the environment. The crucial role that leaders play in an organisation is to initiate change. Leaders do not only see problems, but they also see opportunities. They see how better things can be. To lead better, you should be innovative. Innovation is simply an improvement on what is already in existence. For example, Coca-Cola origin was simply by the introduction of soda to cola. To innovate means to make changes on something established, especially by introducing new methods, ideas or products.

Innovation is simply finding solutions to problems. To lead better, you must find solutions to the problems around you. A leader thinks how better things around him can be. To be innovative is the way to thrive in a changing world. The more the way people communicate and interact changes, the more changes will be taking place around us. You have to think better and do things differently, so, as to lead better. Organisations thrive on innovations.

To lead better, you should learn to establish order in your life. Order is the first principle of increase. Lack of order in any place imposes a situation that perpetuates itself generationally. If you lack order, you will transfer it to the people you lead and on and on. When you see things out of place, do not leave them out of place. For example, put off the air conditioner when nobody is in the place. After the use of a toilet, flush it to clean. After eating, discard the waste in a bin. You must develop the habit where you do not litter. We must develop order and protocol mentality. If not, we will mess up opportunities that come our way.

To lead better, you must grow capacity for great things. God wants to give us big idea, but we are too little minded. The word of God grows our capacity and help us to order our lives in a constructive way. Take up new courses in preparation of new opportunities. We must grow and mature, so that, we can have access to new mantles and leadership opportunities. God will not give to you what you do not have maturity for. Read influential books that will help you grow capacity. Beyond your narrow professional knowledge, you must grow other knowledge beyond your specific discipline.
If the church would take its rightful place in our society, the church should be a centre of knowledge, excellence, morality and good governance.

Leadership is a skill, it has to be learnt, but unfortunately we do not have a culture that impact leadership skill into people. So, you have to build your leadership skill to lead better.

To lead better, your belief systems are important. What leaders do is to communicate their intentions and convictions. Your convictions are responsible for your behaviours. To change the leader’s conviction, you need to change the leader’s belief systems. Leaders communicate their convictions and bring followers to a point they begin to think like them. A Leader inspires team members to grow and create positive changes in the organisation.A leader must be consistent with his visions because it helps the followers to have a clear sense of direction and be able to pull their strengths to achieve the vision rather than guessing which way the leader is going. Your success in life depends on the extent of your influence on people. The more people you influence, the higher the propensity that you are going to succeed in life.
