Maximum productivity is being skillful at your work and achieving the highest level of productivity. Productivity is having the capacity to generate results. A productive person produces better and quality results. To be more productive is to have the capacity or potential to achieve better results than you are achieving now. You must value results more than efforts. All of the effort will not count until you derive results. Don’t only get esteem that you tried until you get results. To be productive is to be fruitful. It is same as saying producing results. Poverty is the absence of self-production. You can only climb to the top by the results you create.
Activity does not equal results. Some workers come to work, but they do not create results at the work place.
Acts 8:30 says: “And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?”
The Ethiopian eunuch answered Philip: “How can I, except someone explains it to me?” He was reading without understanding just as some people are working without producing results. If you are going to be more productive, you have to focus on getting results and measure the results to ensure they are actually commensurate to the efforts. To get better results, you have to be strategic.
A strategic person knows how to get maximum results with little efforts. Your efforts and energy needs to be directed so as to achieve the desired results.
You should set clear goals to achieve optimum results. Setting goals helps you to increase focus and channel your efforts appropriately. Your goal or vision determines your action and your action determines your result. It does not matter how fast you are traveling, if you have not decided your destination, you are heading nowhere. You should ask yourself the following questions: Where am Igoing? What are actually my main objectives? Who do I want to become in life? And what are my goals in the next five or 10 years or longer?
When you are clear about your goals and main objectives, you will then channel your energy in a direction to achieve them. What you do on daily basis will determine your productivity level and the achievement of your ultimate goals. Check the use of your time in order to achieve maximum output. Time is the major resource with which you can convert goals into success.
You must allocate time to the tasks you want to accomplish to avoid wasting time resources. Allocate deadline to your goals to determine how much time you invested in achieving it. Weigh the things you have to do and define what is most important and what comes first, what comes second and what comes third; and make sure that you devote your time to the things that are the most important.
Avoid interruptions because they are the things that make us less productive. Interruptions are the things that we do not plan for, but they get our attention. Whatever gets your attention, consumes your time. It could be a visit by someone or a phone call from a friend or relation. Some of those visits and phone calls add nothing. So, you have to minimise them. Time is money! It is a jeopardy for someone to take your time and at the same time your money. Entertainment has value because it is part of our recreation, but then when you spend disproportionate amount of time on them, for example on the internet and social medial, then you get an overdose of relaxation or enjoyment. Then the time that you should invest on your job and the things that really brings progress to your life is reduced.
• Today’s nugget: Channel your efforts appropriately.
