It was a week of joy and testimonies for members of Methodist Church Nigeria, Glory Chapel, Nvuigwe in Woji Circuit, Diocese of D/Line, as they celebrated God’s high favour and faithfulness for preserving the church for the past six years. One week of spiritual activities was observed from September 3 to 9, 2018 to exclusively thank and praise the Lord, our Ebenezer Who has helped the Church all these years.

The opening activity on September 3 was an in-depth Bible teaching on the theme “Be A Good Builder,” which was an expository lecture handled by the Circuit presbyter- The Very Rev. C. N Diidi. His texts were taken from 1Kings 8:10-30 and Nehemiah 2:14-20 respectively. He emphasised the characteristics of a good builder, using King Solomon and Nehemiah as worthy examples of good builders worthy of emulation. He concluded the teaching by admonishing everyone to build with good material, sincere heart and courage, so as to be able to withstand the antics of the wicked and persevere to the completion of the work. He ended the session by formally declaring the anniversary week open with blessing to the members.

The rest of the days featured Children presentations, Choir ministrations from the host Church, Woji Local Church and Assemblies of God Church choir (the neighbourhood Church). The climax of the event was on Sunday, September 9, 2018, when the Church had special divine service of thanksgiving to the Lord. The Diocesan Bishop – The Rt. Rev. Dr. Etim Ekong gave an inspirational Sermon tagged: “Examine Your Lifestyle.” He took his text from Proverbs 22:1, and elucidated the advantages of a good name in preference to ill-gotten riches. He further stressed the fact that God owns both the rich and the poor. “Therefore, we should be careful to love and fear Him Who is able to protect and provide for those that love and serve Him in righteousness.”

He encouraged everyone to invest quality time, energy and money in serving the Lord.

The highpoint of the Sunday celebration was foundation-laying of the Church manse. The Bishop laid the foundation of the Church manse, assisted by the Circuit presbyter the – The Very Revd. C.N Diidi, the station minister -The Revd Nsikak Ekpo, the Senior Circuit Steward – Bro Chinedu Nene, site engineer/local church senior steward – Bro Eng. Monday Udo, and the assistant Steward – Bro. Godwin Archibong.

Other members and invited guests witnessed the occasion with joy. There was also fund raising to facilitate the building project.

Another highlight of the occasion was the unveiling of the anniversary cake. This was done by the Bishop together with the ministers and special invitees.
