Souls

Believers, it appears, are either no longer burdened by the plight, pain and ultimate perdition of sinners, or are under an illusion that most, if not all, have been saved.

Memory Verse: “Let him know, that he, which converteth the sinner from the error of his way, shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins” James 5:20.

Bible Passage: Luke 16:19.

Introduction
Believers, it appears, are either no longer burdened by the plight, pain and ultimate perdition of sinners, or are under an illusion that most, if not all, have been saved. Sinners are hell bound. We cannot be over zealous in our quest to rescue souls held captive by sin. Righteousness exalts but sin reproaches… Proverbs14:34. Hell is a place of eternal torment, where just a drop of water to cool the heat will be the eternal heart cry.

The Burden
Four friends of a paralytic were so bothered about his physical state that they took aggressive action to get him to our Lord Jesus. If only believers had a similar burden and drive to get sinners to Christ, Isaiah 1:18; 55:1; Matthew 11:28. He will save, heal and deliver.

Admittedly, there is always a price to pay. There will always be risks. However, remember the price Jesus paid and the precious blood He shed for the remission of sin. The maid in the home of Naaman risked being called a fanatic and much more. She spoke up, 2 Kings 5:2-4. And what a glorious outcome for all. Breaking the roof was a great act of faith and determination, Matt 9:2; Mark 9:23; 11:23; James 1:7-9. The man was healed physically and spiritually, Matt 6:33.

Show Love
The Lord is calling on us today to be burdened about the salvation of our relatives, neighbours and all sinners. The Lord is also a healer and deliverer. Do all you can to bring every sinner to Christ, Rom 15:1; Gal. 6:2, 9; Prov. 31:20; Luke 10:29-34. Break every barrier.

Conclusion
Many of our pastimes here on earth are vain and temporal with absolutely no eternal value. Yet, we expend tremendous energy and effort in needless acquisitions. Our priority is totally misplaced and we end up empty, unfulfilled and confused. A man’s life, real life, does not consist of the abundance of his possession. For vanity upon vanity, all is vanity. Please reignite the burden for lost souls. That will be wisdom from on high. You will bear enduring spiritual fruit in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
