Tongues: The launching pad into the supernatural

Men place switches and sockets on walls when connected electrical power flows into the house. God has placed in our body a switch called the tongue, which when properly utilised; unearthly power can be contacted and emitted.

Our tongue is the launching pad into the supernatural. Look at the text below:
“And God hath set some in the church first apostles, secondary prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversity of tongues.” – 1Corinthians 12:28

Here we see an eight-rung ladder. In the kingdom of God, the highest level of operation is the apostolic. So, we find it at the top of the ladder, followed by the second highest level of operation being the prophetic. Third on the ladder are teachers, followed fourthly by miracles and fifth healing. Note that miracles are more superior to healings. It will take the gift of healing for a cataract to be removed from one’s eye, but it will take a re-creative miracle for someone who has no eye at all to receive a brand new one. Having said that, the ministry of a teacher of the word is superior to both miracles and healings, because miracles and healings will all be done away with when we get to heaven. But the word of God liveth and abideth forever.

It is also interesting to note that in the Kingdom, helps are considered more important to God than government or administrations. By helps, we refer to ushers, vocalists, instrumentalists, technical teams, cleaners, etc. These are considered by God of more importance than the deacon board, presbytery, general council, board of directors, church council and what have we. Obviously, we as men often get things completely the wrong way around. Then finally at the bottom of the ladder, we have diversity of tongues. So, ever before we can climb the ladder to the apostolic or even ministry of helps, you must begin with being baptised in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. The more you speak or pray in tongues, the higher you climb that ladder.

I will prove it to you with two other scriptures.
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels…. and though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge and though I have all faith, so that I can remove mountains…” (1 Corinthians 13:1, 2)

It is common knowledge that the nine gifts of the Spirit can be subdivided into three groups. Namely the VOCAL GIFTS of tongues, interpretations of tongues and prophecy. Followed by the second group often referred to as the REVELATORY GIFTS, comprising the gifts of word of knowledge, wisdom and discernment of spirits. The third and last group known as the POWER GIFTS is made up of faith, healings and miracles.

Now in 1 Corinthians 13:1, 2 Paul actually outlined these three groups one after the other. He began with the first group of vocal gifts specifically mentioning tongues and prophecy. He then goes on to the revelatory group of gifts specifically mentioning knowledge and indirectly referring to both the gifts of the word of wisdom and discerning of spirits by the phrase “understanding all mysteries.”

It is an all-inclusive statement. He then goes on to the power gifts. Specifically mentioning faith and again indirectly referring to the gifts of healings and miracles by the phrase “I can remove mountains.”What I want you to see is ever before you can climb to the realm of operating in the revelatory or power gifts, you begin first in the vocal gifts of which the first is tongues. The more you pray in tongues, the higher you climb in the operation of the gifts.

The apostle Paul operated in all nine gifts of the Spirit and was evidently used of God more than any other of the apostles. There must have been something he was doing in secret that they were not. What was his secret?
“I thank my God; I speak in tongues more than you all.” – (1 Corinthians 14:18)

Kenneth Hagin spoke in tongues so much that at times, he found it difficult to come back down to the natural plain. When his wife would ask him what he wanted to eat, he’d respond in tongues. He also experienced just about all the gifts of the Spirit at one time or another in his ministry.
Smith Wigglesworth read 1 Cor. 14:18 and decided he would live like Paul and speak in tongues more than everybody else. He also operated in the supernatural more than everyone else in his days.

When men saw Kathryn Kuhlman on the platform, it was as if a being from another planet entirely was standing before them.
