Truly called pastors won’t abuse members, church resources, says Adeyemi
The Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Lagos, Dr. Sam Adeyemi has urged pastors, who sexually abuse their members or mismanage resources of the church to desist.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the church’s two-day Excellence In Leadership Conference 2019, tagged: “Great Leadership,” held in Lagos, last week, the leadership expert regretted that their profession is not like the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) or the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), where there is standard and members’ activities are regulated.
He said evil exists in every part of the world and Nigeria is not an exception. He reminded men of God that their sole responsibility is to nurture their members and make them to conform Christ’s image.
The Senior Pastor explained that those occupying leadership positions should not rest on their oars, until they have learned leadership skill.
Saying leadership is a skill that must be acquired through learning, Adeyemi lamented that the issue of leadership in Nigeria must be addressed from the top to the bottom; otherwise, Nigerians would continue to grope in the dark.
He defined leadership as the ability to influence and motivate other people to achieve a goal.
Pastor Nike Adeyemi said the essence of this year’s conference was to build future leaders, and make them accountable, even from young age, so that when they assume leadership position tomorrow; they will not misbehave like the older generations.
She said: “We believe that any one is a leader or has the potential to be a great leader. We made them to understand that a lot depended on them, and not just the current leaders. They are also leaders in the making and they can start to make adjustments by learning ways that are detrimental to good leadership. They’ve been so equipped at this programme.
“They can learn to live from the heart. They can learn that they have to be accountable even from a young age. They should learn to be truthful, be real and transparent…”
