Jesus is coming back soon, amend your ways
2nd Timothy 2:19, “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
The word of God is the sword of the spirit that causes the sinful heart to repent and prepare to meet with the Master, the holy God who does not behold iniquity. The life on this planet earth is designed for man to explore, and then, get ready for rapture and eventual return to heaven to meet his creator.
We should, therefore, key into the programmes designed for leading us into heaven, the abode of the creator. It is rather unfortunate that through the actions of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, we were born into sin and as a result, we are sinners. There is a window through which all will come to repentance and meet with the holy God again. Jesus Christ is the way to the father, the Supreme God who created us; He, Jesus Christ has opened the door to heaven but for any man to meet Him, the person must be sinless and holy. That is the reason for the call to amend our ways.
The Bible in Jeremiah 7:1-7 says, “The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, 2: Stand in the gate of the Lord’s house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the Lord, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the Lord. 3: Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. 4: Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, are these. 5: For if ye thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour; 6: If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: 7: Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, forever and ever.”
The general character of this message is of rebuke, warning, and exhortation and addressed to the people who are in the congregation of Christ-like people but still keep outwardly the worship of the Lord but inside them they are not obeying the word of God. It is a message meant to put the people into the action of repentance and correction of their mistakes. They are being advised to retrace their steps from where they have derailed from the word of God. God is against intimidation and shedding of innocent blood hence rebukes people indulging in such sins and the like, must repent and amend their ways, otherwise He will not let them dwell in the land. God is, therefore, calling on evildoers such as killers, robbers, fornicators and adulterers to repent if they must dwell in the land God has given to them.
In the lead scripture, the message is that whosoever calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ must purge himself of iniquity, from all kinds of devilish appearances and deceit. Everyone who professes Christ must do so in truth and righteousness. Service to our Lord Jesus Christ does not allow double identity of one leg in the house of God and the other in the soothsayer’s house, shrines, or native doctor’s shrine or chambers. When we believe in God through His Son Jesus Christ, we must believe that power belongs to Him and He has the capacity to do all things including solving all our problems. There must be nothing like a double standard.
Still calling for repentance and righteousness for people professing the name of the Lord, the Bible makes a case in Luke 3:3-6 saying, “And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; 4: As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 5: Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; 6: And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.”
The essence of repentance and for one to make amend of his/her ways of life is because of Christ’s second coming to rapture the saints. Our Lord Jesus Christ is coming to take the saints that have prepared themselves based on His first advent. He has set the standard for coming back to God and the people who will meet the criteria are the saints. The church is working hard on the preaching of the gospel, ensuring that everyone on earth comes to the knowledge of God, and repents of their sins in order to make heaven. The fulfillment of the word of God is sure as the Bible vows that heaven and earth will rather pass away instead of the word of God not coming to pass. The Bible in 1st Thessalonians 4:13-18, stresses, “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14: For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15: For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we, which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them, which are asleep. 16: For the Lord, himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18: Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
The salient message on this blessed hope of the church is the reassurance of His second coming, expectations of the saints, the setting forth of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ for the rapture of the church and the reunion of believers, and comfort of the saints. These are to strengthen the faith of the waiting church. Whatever sacrifices one makes in the course of the heavenly race, are not in vain when compared with the reward of everlasting life.
Therefore, people should amend their ways and prepare for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to the above scripture, the rapture of the saints is across board; the dead and the living in Christ will all partake when Christ will appear in the air. It does not matter whether one is dead then or not, what is important is the readiness while still alive on this earth. The grace available now will cease as soon as one dies or when the trumpet sounds hence there is no time for procrastination. Amend your ways now, as the opportunity lasts.
Again, the Bible is emphatic on resurrection in 1st Corinthians 15:51-53, it says: “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52: In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53: For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”
The dead in Christ shall rise into life while the living in Christ will also be changed, all will put on incorruptible and immortality to meet our Lord Jesus Christ in the air. There, they will continue to be with Him forever. Then after a period of 1,000 years, there will be another resurrection of the people who died outside Christ. They will rise into damnation, into everlasting consciousness and suffering. The avoidance of this resurrection into damnation and suffering is the essence of repentance and amending of one’s life. Any individual, who judges himself while alive, repents and amends his or her ways will meet with Christ by rapture, he will rise into life, hence, the second death will never be his or her portion.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is calling everyone now to come unto Him to drink the water of life freely, to save one’s soul. Do not hesitate take the decision now and you will enjoy everlasting life thereafter in Jesus name.
Testimony Of The Lord’s Doing
How God Saved Me From Robbers — Gabriel
In another development, God used me as a pastor to recover our members that left one of our branch churches in Benue State. It happened that one of our young pastors left the ministry and went to another area to open a branch.
He went to his place where our branch is, and he was able to capture some of our members. So my regional pastor called me and told me to come back and that he is sending me on a mission to go and recover those members. I said to my pastor, all you need to do is to pray for me. He prayed for me and brethren, God gave us revival in that place.
As I was going there, I told God that I need testimonies that will convert people in the locality. Something happened, we were in a three-day programme titled: “Let Haman advertise my glory and Die.”
So the second day of that programme the head of that village sent some boys with vehicles to come pick me up. When they came I told them I had business with God of Chosen. I told them to look at the crowd. That I cannot leave them here without a shepherd. So, I told them to inform the village head that I would come and see him after the programme. I went there after the programme to see him and he told me to close down The Lord’s Chosen branch there.
The man said the villagers have made a demand to close down the Lord’s Chosen Church because the church has destroyed so many things in that land and is causing them pains. When they told me that, I was just nodding my head, later, I told them that this church you want me to close down, is bigger than what they are looking at. That it is not an ordinary church, and God forbids that I use my own hands to close the Lord’s Chosen Church.
The man was very angry and said he has closed so many churches in the land. As soon as l left them, I went back and called my brethren and we prayed. They started maltreating my people and the man (village head) was boasting in the market that nothing would make the Lord’s Chosen Church to stay there again. He boasted on Tuesday and on Friday, he died. Who is that Pharaoh that will challenge God? The young man that was under him ran to Chosen and surrendered himself to God of Chosen. They took me to the late village head’s house and l gathered all the charms there, burnt them and they surrendered to the God of Chosen.
As for the pastor that left the Lord’s Chosen, he went and opened his own fellowship there. The family rejected him and joined Chosen. That is how God of Chosen gave us victory. After this event, 95 per cent of the people in the branch are indigenes of the place. We now have a very large membership and a magnificent church building in that town.
Again, God blessed me with the sum of N150,000, after sowing a seed of N50,000. I return all the glory to Him. May the name of the Lord be glorified in Jesus’ name.
Pastor Gabriel, Benue State.
