“They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image. Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eats grass. They forgot God their savior, which had done great things in Egypt; Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red Sea” (Psalm 106:19-22).

Idol worship is forbidden for true children of God. “I am the Lord your God, which have brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me,” (Exodus 20:2-3). The glory of God can’t be shortchanged for an image. The Lord’s truthfulness can’t be turned into a lie. You can’t serve the creature more than the creator. You can’t also worship God and Mammon together. Do not let your heart be deceived. Idol worship will not save your soul, but destroy it. Idolatry is the work of the flesh, which we must abhor. The service of God is incompatible with idolatry. All your efforts and time are meaningless in the house of God, when you serve other gods. Let’s put away strange gods so that we will not be hindered at the heaven’s gate. Strange gods could be charms, armlets, graven images, jewellery. Strange gods could also be the work of the flesh such as fornication, adultery, drunkenness, greed, witchcraft, jealousy, hatred, murder and many more.

For us to inherit the kingdom of God, sin must not take the place of God in our lives. Jesus Christ must be loved genuinely and wholeheartedly. Our hearts must be inclined to Jesus. Break every altar of Baal and sin in your life.

Burn down every graven image in your homes, and you shall see the glory of God. You are the temple of God. Idol worship desecrates God’s temple and disallows God to dwell and work within you. Jesus shed his blood for us on the cross for the propitiation of our sins, offering animals as sacrifices is abominable before God. “And the times of this ignorance God winked at, but now commands all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30). “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake, which burns with fire and brimstone, and which is the second death” (Revelation 21:8).

It has been appointed for a man to die once, but after this, the judgment. Rapture could also take place at any moment. Repent, turn away from idols, and your face from all abominations. Tomorrow may be too late.
